52 CCT Challenge

This weeks challenge is to make a Christmas card using Metallic Paper. I don't actually like "Mirror card" so a real challenge for me to use it! After rummaging around in a box of stuff waiting to be given away I found a piece! I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out so now going to keep the remaining sheets!

First of all I die cut the flower using Tim Holtz Tatterd Floral die, alcohol inked ...to reduce the glare LOL then mounted on die cut pennants. The top one was embossed with  polka dots and Treasure Gold rubbed into it in Royal Amethyst and Silver colours to carry on the metallic theme. I love the smell of Treasure Gold! Die cut the flourishes in mirror card and left those as they were!

I'm also going to enter this in the Daring Cardmakers "Old but not Forgotten" challenge as my use of Mirror card is just perfect!

Thanks for looking x

Altered Canvas

A busy week being Half Term and after a trip to the cinema I fancied some "ME" time. Feeling inspired I decided to get messy and alter a canvas I'd had for years. It only took me one hour!

Scraps of  paper arranged on the canvas

Stuck them down and brushed over gel medium
Added some texture with stencil and texture paste

Some paint around the edges
Spritzed on bronze glimmer mist
Added some embellishments
Painted and glittered chipboard letters

Flowers and Chipboard bird

Pearls, birdcage and some metallic rub here and there

The final piece

52 CCT Challenge - Landscapes

I was given an Honary mention at for my card last week, so very pleased I am!

This weeks theme is to make a "Landscape" Christmas card so I made this card using a Memory Box die "Country Landscape". I spritz the background with  a white glimmer mist and masked off an area to create a moon with white craft ink. Added the die cut landscape, bit of silver stickles and a pretty bow. I love the sentiment....at Christmas all roads lead to home..... which is from a Penny Black set Christmas Cheer. Thanks for looking! X

Top Five at House of Cards!

So pleased this week to be chosen one of the top five over at House of Cards for this card entered for their recent challenge:-

Paper Smooches

Anything Goes challenge! I couldn't wait to use my new stamp set from Paper Smooches...Green Thumb which coordinates with a die to cut the wellie and watering can out with. So cute and just had to have them both!

Here's my card for their "Anything Goes" challenge on their blog here:

The patterned paper was a scrap saved from a scrapbook page made about five years ago. I love the brown, turquoise and green together and look at the weeny snail I stamped and punched out. Shhh...but I usually bash snails to death with my trowel but not this cutey!

CSI Challenge 109

Just scraping through the cut off time with this one! Had the perfect photo and perfect mini paper stack by Simple Stories "Daily Grind" to cover all five colours.

Heres the brief:

So I've included all five colours. My design is in keeping with the stacked fireplace. Evidence is a book page, stack of papers, dry embossing and a frame for the cover of my journalling "book" which is the testimony.
Stamps I've used are BoBunny, a few buttons, ribbon and washi tape finish it off. Thanks for looking x

A day with Lorry x

Lorraine came over today and we set ourselves various challenges. First up to make a card for the Daring Cardmakers challenge to use NEON in a card. Lorraine chose a sketch from Mojo Monday here so we used that too and lastly to use my Papertrey Ink stamps. Great fun we had! Pop over to Lorraines blog here to see her designs from today.

So heres my card using Papertrey Ink Half and Half stamp set and die, with a neon pink felt butterfly and die. A pop of neon yellow for a die cut button.Never thought I'd ever use neon but I think a little goes a long way! I didnt realise this at the time but this also qualifies for the Lets Craft and Create challenge!

Our next challenge was from Freshly Made Sketches here. To be honest neither Lorraine or I fell in love with this sketch but decided to go for it...its meant to be a challenge after all and we were pleased with our results!

Wanting to do something different to the other entries, I decided to go with a cheesehole effect with a couple of circle punches. Heres the finished card, very simple and hopefully suitable for boy.

Lorraine was taking a.g.e.s......over her card ....yawn.....so not wanting to waste valuable crafting time I decided to enter another challenge on Lets Craft and Create Challenge here. A felt/fabric challenge so I used papertrey ink flower dies and felt to make the layered flower plus some ribbon and the mat is embossed with a honeycomb embossing folder.

And as time was running out our last and final card was a Clearly Besotted Stamps colour challenge here. A great idea seeing as I'd only received the banner stamp and die set from them yesterday so we used those for our cards!

The colours I've used for my card are Stampin Up Certainly Celery with Primrose Petals and Tempting Turquoise. The flowers are PTI Beautiful Blooms 11 with their matching die. We had a mini-challenge of our own to use the same cardstock for the background and a piece of the matching ribbon. IM not happy with my bow....its lost on the background cardstock. Never mind, I can always pull it off later!

Thanks for looking at my cards from today. We had great fun and consumed vast amounts of tea and cake!

Valentines Cards

One of my crafty groups is coming tomorrow to make some cards and the brief was "Valentines but not if they dont want to" LOL ( plus a "mans" card ). Anyway, seeing as it IS valentines day on Friday I've made this card which they can alter to suit an all occasion card should they wish! Neither card is stuck down properly as I have to show them both options.

Stampin Up Mixed Bunch Stamp Set

Stampin Up Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set

One of my ladies husband has Alzheimers and she told us that she has always given him a valentines card regardless of the fact that he is ill but she has never had one from him . I felt quite sad for her so she is going to get a card this year even if its from me!!! She'll know it cant possibly be from him and I hope I've done the right thing!

Daring Cardmakers February Challenge

The Daring Cardmakers challenge for February is a colour one. Grey, orange and yelllow. I love grey as a neutral and teamed with the two brights is a lovely combo

So heres my card. A tall skinny one! Stampin Up Petal Parade stamp set with colours being Smoky Slate, Calypso Coral and Summer Starfruit. I love this stamp set...its great for background stamping. Finished off with a piece of chevron ribbon, a label and butterfly. Thanks for looking x

52 CCT Challenge Winner and This weeks Challenge

Popped over to the 52 Christmas Card Challenge blog to check out the new challenge only to find I won last weeks double embossing challenge! Look here! Feeling proud......x

So onto this weeks: February's Colour Challenge

I chose Real Red, Black and Old Olive green from Stampin Up and bought the Gold in with some glitter card and punched out the birdie and branch. I stamped the background using Stampin Up's Dictionary stamp then the mat using Just Rite Damask Wallpaper stamp. I wanted the bird to stand out from the green backgound so I punched a circle and used that as a mat. Thanks for looking x

I love the bird punch, its so versatile

Mosaic Workshop

I had a fab day yesterday with Wendy who runs Mosaic workshops. I met her last summer when I was one of the photographers for a local arts festival. Have always wanted to try Mosaics and was so inspired by Wendys work that I booked myself onto a days course.

She started me off doing a sample piece to get the hang of cutting tiles, glueing them on and when dry, grouting. Was great fun and I'm really pleased with my final piece which is going to hang in my kitchen.

I went onto to make this mirror but its not grouted yet so I will take a proper photo when its finished. But here it is in ungrouted....

Great Impressions February Challenge

My first time entering the Great Impressions Challenge Blog. This month the challenge is to create a card with a floral image. I have many "single" flowers stamps but could only find this one which I thought was more appropriate to fit the criteria!

I've had the stamp for years...I think its Crafty Individuals but not 100% sure. I've clear embossed the image then applied colour using Victorian Velvet & Scattered Straw distress inks. Dry embossed the card base. Finished off with a bow, tag, flower, button and bakers twine and a weeny sentiment.

Thanks for looking!
