Guest Designer - 52CCT Stash Challenge

My last week as Guest Designer for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and I'm sad to leave! Its been lovely being part of Mynettes Team and I do hope everyones enjoyed looking at the cards for April.

This week the challenge is to use your stash! Glitter! A girl loves bling so here's my card. Ive stamped a background using Just Rites "Damask Wallpaper" background stamp. Die cut and embossed a white bauble. then I stamped a bauble using Stamps to Die for "Ornate Bauble" in versamark. Sprinkled heat & stick powder, blasted with the heat gun and sprinkled Stampin Up's superfine glitter over it. Its really sparkly in real life but sadly doenst show up that well in the photograph. A bow, Tiny Tag and the word "Merry" die cut in silver glitter paper completes it. I do wish you could see for real!

Big Picture Scrapbooking

I took this photo of my daughter for her to manipulate for her GCSE photography topic on "cubism". I just had to scrap such a large photo. I've made very simple embellies from the left over scraps of paper, cork and buttons

Guest Designer - 52CCT 12 Days of Christmas

Me again with this weeks challenge for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. To make a card with the theme "12 Days of Christmas". Quite a hard one this. Lords leaping and Turtle Doves! My first idea was to "Partridge in a Pear Tree" but the only tree stamps I have are small and the only birds I have a too big so it would look a bit odd!

Then I came up with this idea......the most important day of all 25!!! Advent style the door opens to reveal a stamped image inside. The stamp set I used was Stampin Up's "No Peeking" which is actually what it says inside the flap! No peeking!!

Stippled Blossoms Cards

I love this stamp set and the colour scheme I chose. Stamped first in a pale blue then over stamped in a darker blue. A lovely effect.

More Kaisercraft Sugar Pop Scrapbook Pages

Another two pages made up using this month scrapbook kit which includes the fab doily stencil!

This page I've used sprayed mists over the stencil. Strips of torn paper, fussy cut some of the flowers from the patterned paper

This page is a cleaner look. I've simply sponged on white ink just using the edges of the stencil.

52CCT - Guest Designer Colours Sketch

I'm back again as this weeks guest designer for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown with this weeks challenge to make a card using this colour scheme:-

I've used Crumb Caket card stock for the base. Inked the edges and stamped using Stampin Up's Serene Snowflake stamp set. A bit of stickles to accent those. The centrepiece is a silver embossed showflake matted/layered & inked with a crystal button and silver elastic thread and a Crumb Cake ribbon bow.

Thanks for looking!

Mixed Media -Kaisercraft Sugar Pop

One of my club ladies likes mixed media pages but lacks confidence! So this is for her using next scrap club kit.

Here's my finished page and quick tutorial:-

  1. Tear a few strips of patterned paper
  2. Spread some gesso on your cardstock base, concentrating on the central area.
  3. While that is still wet place the strips of paper on top so that the Gesso acts like glue. Leave to dry
  4. The papers may curl up a bit but don't worry about that. Its not supposed to be perfect!
  5. Painted on a layer of Gesso over the top of the papers. Not too thick, just so you can still see the patter/colour underneath. Leave to dry. Looking a mess? Keep going......
  6. Using a stencil/mask (I used Kaisercraft Doily template) and a pallet knife, spread some texture paste over the mask. Lift off carefully. Clean the mask. Leave the page to dry.
  7. Using shimmer mists/sprays (I used Radiant Rain, remember those!)  spritz some colour over the page. Take the nozzle out and use it as a tool to make a different effect too. Leave to dry. Still looking a mess? Keep going!
  8. Rub in some colour to make the stencil really pop. I used three colours of Treasure Gold: Royal Amethyst, Silver and Sapphire. Still some left on my finger I spread it around the edges of the page too. A little goes a long way!
  9.  Now to add your photograph/s and embellishments! I've die cut some clouds/leaves. Added a strip of white ribbon, some handmade clay embellies, bakers twine, paper flowers, brads. Some words and a die cut title. Done!
Hope you like it!

Retreat Scrapping!

A fab weekend in March with the girls.......we were trying to work out how long ago we all met up. 5 years? Great fun, lots of laughs and some scrapping done! Accommodation was perfect, provided you liked pink! Plenty of light and room for our stash.  I concentrated on completing my Project Life 2013 which I'm pleased to say is finished and I'm up-to-date with 2014 too. So , I only managed 8 scrapbook layouts this time.

Shocked to find I was chosen as the winner from last weeks 3D flower challenge. They liked my snowflake flower! There were some lovely cards too....

Now onto this weeks challenge. I'm running a bit behind this week, usually I don't leave it quite so late to enter but lifes mad at the moment! Challenge is to make a card with a previous colour combo so I chose September 2013. Red, White and Kraft

And heres my entry this week. A 6 in card for a change. The papers were perfect for the colour scheme. Bazzill Basics "Nordic Pine". A doily, some snowflakes die cut in cork, button, twine and gems. I sneaked in a bit of black on the ribbon..shhh!
