Thank you to Linda for inviting me as a guest designer for your scrapbox! I thoroughly enjoyed putting my pages together and used up all but a few scraps!
Here are some photos of the kit before I started cutting it up!
Here are the pages I created together with the sketches provided by Linda. You may not have the exact amount or size of photos so sketches are just a starting point. They can be rotated and elements swapped around. They spark your creativity and you may end up with pages that look nothing like the original sketch!
Page 1 - Camping
I "cut" this sketch in half and swapped sides!
2 sheets of Eggshell cardstock. Patterned paper cut into strips. Brush some white paint or gesso around the edges (they then blend into the background cardstock). You can use ink instead or scuff the edges are even keep them "clean". All your own choice and taste.
A story behind the photo of my dad wearing a box on his head! was printed on the computer and I used the frame of the chipboard word tiles which I painted and grunged up with some ink (you really can use everything!)
Fussy cut the blue flowers and adhere across the bottom of the pages. I crumpled them in my hands to give texture and dimension I added some of the delicate chipboard flowers
The title was from my own stash and the money envelope which hides the personal journaling. I would recommend if you do hidden journaling to write "Look Here" or "Read" so its not hidden forever!
Page 2 - When we Were Young
I used the sketch as it was with the lovely circular flowers.
2 sheets of Coconut cardstock. The patterned paper was cut into 2 x 5 1/2 inch strips. Scuffed the edges and a couple of tears too, curled back to reveal the other side of the patterned paper.
I punched various sizes of circles to replace the rings of flowers, scrunched and added some glitter too. You can swap this for the paper flowers in the kit if you prefer but I chose to use those paper flowers clustered as embellishments with a drop of Nuvo pearls in the centres. A tag from the kit behind one of the photo with a small padlock fussy cut and ribbon/thread. Lots of handwritten journaling too. I hate my handwriting but its part of me.
Ribbon tabs, a few of the word tiles and my own title cut from cardstock scraps complete the page
Page 3 - Our Day
This double page really is about photos isnt it!
I decided to do a page which emphasised a single photo - the bride and groom and then have the page next to it multi- photos which weren't the best quality photos but add to the story and memories of the day.
2 x cream cardstock and two strips of patterned paper which are bordered with strips of the lilac cardstock.
I made my own paper flowers but punching out scallop circles from the lilac cardstock and patterned paper scraps, spraying them with water and scrunching up. About 5 layers in each flower. They then dry and keep their shape. I used my own gold heart brads for the centres.
The journaling again, handwritten on cardstock and backed with the lilac cardstock.
Embellishments were paper flowers, elements from the dies cut sheet and the key
Page 4 - Family
I cut this sketch in half and scrapped to single layouts. Sometimes we only have one or two photos
Latte cardstock for the base and inked around the edges using the kit ink pad.
Two strips of remaining patterned paper cut into 3 1/4 and 2 1/2 inch strips. Cut the notches out of the bottom to create bunting. Inked the edges using the kit ink pad.
The handwritten journaling directly in the page. Go for it!
Embellishments are from the kit die cut sheet. There are so many on this sheet. Tag birds, keys. Plus a few flowers, words tiles and the string complete the page
Page 5 - This is the Time
The other half of the sketch!
Mocho cardstock as the base.
Sheet of patterned paper, ink edges in the kit ink pad.
The journaling is handwritten on scraps of cardstock and I used the film strip to create a pocket to put them in. The big flower was left over from the first page, tied with the burgundy ribbon and accented with a small key.
More embellishments, ribbon bow, the scissors, word tile for my title and paper flowers complete the page
Finally, with the scrap left overs I made a quick thank you card for Linda.
Nothing gets wasted! Use it all up
