Stamps + Fun = Creativity Challenge 22/9/14

This weeks challenge at SFC is to create your own background.

I decided to make a scrapbook page using papers from "Nirvana" collection by Marion Smith. I trimmed down the sheet of patterned paper, mounted onto card stock then set to work adding to the background.

  • I used a bronze shimmer spray and Tim Holtz mask for the clock face top right and bottom left hand sides of the page
  • Then when dry, cream paint brushed across the centre of the page from top to bottom.
  • Sprinkled gilding flakes onto the painted areas while still wet so they stuck!
  • Sprayed a gold glimmer mist over the page
I then added the photo and fussy cut out various elements from another sheet of the paper. A few buttons and its done!

52 Christmas Card Throwdown

This weeks challenge at 52CCT is a colour one.

I have been really short of time lately so only a super quick card from me this week. I decided to use my Technique Tuesday "Be Jolly" stamp set and colours Rose red, White and Silver glimmer paper. I finished the card of with stretchy silver thread.

Scrapbook kit - September

I've made a page using papers from the Nirvana collection by Marion Smith. (Look for next weeks post for another layout made for the SFC DT).

  1. I trimmed the paper to mount onto card stock. Inked and distressed the edges.
  2. Then I used a Tim Holtz stencil and ink for the clock flaces
  3. I brushed cream paint left to right, top to bottom
  4. I cut out various elements from the other papers: Journalling card, balloon, clocks etc and layered with the photogtraph
  5. The hessian flower was die cut using the Tattered Florals die. Brush with PVA glue and curled. Left to dry then used hot glue to stick them together. Then I added some gold stickles on the egdes. A button in the centre.
  6. The twine for the buttons was from the hessian
  7. Added the ribbon and some handwritten journalling

September House of Cards Challenge

Its been a great summer but we now have the feel of Autumn. Our DT challenge at House of Cards is the following photo inspiration! I love these autumnal colours!

So I decided to use my Stampin Up "Work of Art" stamp set and stamp a simple panel in these colours:-
Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango, Early Espresso, Always Artichoke and Pear Pizzazz. Ive stamped the sentiment using a Winnie&Walter sentiment. I then heat embossed gold leaves using Stampin Up's French Foliage. Finished off with a tiny tag and gold thread.

Stamps & Fun = Creativity

This week our DT challenge is to make something with the theme "Butterflies". I have lots of stamps and dies to choose from, they just never go out of fashion! I decided to make a flip card using a Stampin Up die, stamp set and some patterned paper that needing using up. Banner sentiment is from Clearly Besotted. Colours are Crumb cake, Always Artichoke and Baja Breeze.

By The Sea

Its been a while since I showed a scrapbook page! This layout uses papers from the Graphic 45 By the Sea collection. This is a picture of my husband and his sister taken some time ago! I stamped the background. The kit has  a large piece of hessian fabric which can be die cut to make flowers although I decided to simply use it as a strip along the bottom edge. I used a circle cutter to cut out the larger circles and punches for the small ones. You can use dinner plates instead. I used the threads in the hessian to wrap around the button. Lots of inking. the kit comes with an inking tool as well. I added gold glitter to the shells and to replicate sand just beneath the cut out of the children.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown

This week the challenge is to make a card using an old sketch. Delving into the archives I decided on this one from May 2013

I used spellbinder dies to cut the cream and brown centrepiece and used a cheap nasty stamp from a magazine.....the quality is so bad when you stamp with it! Anyway, I coloured in with markers and mounted onto cardstock with a couple of old Stampin Up paper scraps. I'm determined to use this pack of paper up before this Christmas! A gold thread bow and sentiment to finish.

Stamps + Fun = Creativity

After the summer break we are back with our challenges at SFC! For our first week of September we have "Three Layers of Paper".

This card uses papers from a paper stack thats lost the cover so I don't know the name, plus I just had to use my new die from Papertrey Ink. Plus a punched arrow from balsa wood (thank you Lorraine!)
